Meet the Greenwich Nature Days Team
Laurel Scarlata
Laurel Scarlata, a native of Greenwich, taught in the Greenwich Public Schools and local preschools in town before partnering with the Greenwich Botanical Center to establish their Nature Education program. Under Laurel’s educational leadership, three programs emerged and hundreds of children in town have benefitted. Currently, Laurel is teaching nature immersion programs during the school day at St. Paul’s Day School in Riverside.
Laurel recently received her Nature Based Early Childhood certification from Antioch University in New Hampshire as well as her Level 1 and Level 2 Nature-Based certification from ERAFANS (Eastern Region Association of Forest and Nature Schools). She is currently enrolled in the Master Naturalist Program with the James L. Goodwin Conservation Center in CT. She has a Masters in Special Education from Manhattanville College and a B.S. in Early Childhood Education from James Madison University.
